Meet the Prince’s Trust Executive Leadership Team

This month I had an exciting commission from the Prince’s Trust to photograph their Executive Leadership Team up in their offices in Manchester.

The brief was to deliver a consistent set of head shots for each member of the team in order to be used to help highlight some of the people behind the organisation. The idea was to produce a variety of images both in terms of backgrounds and expressions, allowing different parts of their personalities to shine through.

It was also important that these portraits would help portray the Trust’s values and themes of approachability, being non-judgemental, inspiration, empowerment and passion.

Due to the nature of their jobs, I knew I only had about 15 minutes with each person and so preparation and planning out my work flow beforehand was really important.

On arriving at the office, I was able to quickly scope out 3 different locations within the office, making sure that before I photographed any of them I had all the technical challenges and setting worked out.  This is key so that I can fully be present and concentrate on the person in front of me.

Then the fun began!

For me, the joy of being a portrait photographer is the interaction between myself and whoever is being photographed, which I liken to a dance.

The dance has roles which each of us play out both knowingly and unknowingly, and with a continuously evolving dynamic. There is always a tension between what I am wanting to capture and portray with what each individual is willing to show me about themselves. The truth is that the end result is as much about how each person is reacting to me as it is about them.

Fortunately they were a really fun group to work with, who for most part didn’t find the process too daunting and moments of fun was had by all!

It was also great to hear some feedback after the shoot:

“Becky was a pleasure to work with from start to finish! She was so communicative from the very moment that we approached her about the shoot and was willing to go above and beyond to ensure that the brief was adhered to and that the project was a success. She clearly has both a strong talent and a keen eye for the medium and I would without question recommend her services to anyone seeking a professional photographer.”
