Highly Commended Artist in ‘How I See You’ Exhibition

How do you see those around you? What details do you notice about them even when they aren’t there? What can you observe about how they interact with the space around them?

I feel very flattered to not only be one of the top 10 artists, but also the ‘Curator’s Highly Commended Artist’ for Shutterhub and Float Magazine’s ‘How I See You’ exhibition.

“The exhibition showcases the work of 23 photographers bringing together touching and beautiful representations of people through objects, spaces and abstraction, sometimes joyful, sometimes sad, and everything in between.”

I had 4 images selected from my personal project ‘A Second Helping’ which was born out of a curiosity to get to know my Grandma better.

Whilst making this work I found that my camera became a powerful tool. It served as a reminder to stay present and observe the subtle changes that come with each visit, and I discovered that many clues about her life could be found in the small ‘day to day’ details.

It has been amazing to be a part of an exhibition that celebrates this way of ‘seeing’ and really inspiring to see the work of the other artists.

Huge thank you to my Grandma and her husband David for being so kind in letting me into their lives with my camera.
