The Everyday Cyclist Project: Get Involved
Do you ride a bike in London? Fancy being part of a photography project that celebrates all types of cyclists?
I am currently working on a new body of work ‘The Everyday Cyclist’. The project is about celebrating the everyday cyclist, uncovering the hidden stories amongst the cycle lanes and further understanding the diverse role that bikes can play in people’s lives.
My aim is to create 100 portraits of as many different people and their bikes, with the long-term aim to share each story by publishing a book and exhibiting the work in public spaces across London.
Excitingly 2 of the portraits from the series have just been published by Hoxton Mini Press in their new ‘An Opinionated Guide to Cycle London’ which is available to buy.
So what’s involved?
Normally I have a quick chat on the phone with you to learn more about you and your bike(s), choose a date for the shoot and a location which has some connection to you and your bike.
Then on the day, we normally grab a coffee so I can record our conversation about what you get up to on the bike, then hit the streets and create your portrait. Normally this takes about 1.5 hours in total but can be quicker if needed!
Want to get involved or know someone who should? I would love to hear from you! Absolutely no need to own a single item of lycra and please just drop me a message.
Below is a flavour of who I have met so far!
