New Personal Project: Cyclists of London

Hi, I’m Becky! I am a photographer. If you don’t happen to know me that well, probably second to my camera are my bikes - I genuinely couldn’t imagine living in London without one!

Starting off in London about 7 years ago I fell in love with cycling around the city as a commuter. I had no gear and no idea, yet I loved the freedom it gave me and I noticed it made a real difference to my mental health (and bank balance!) being able to rely on my trusty red bike.

Fast forward quite a few years I ended up working in the very bike shop I bought my trusty red bike from for a year. I had a lot of fun, learnt a huge amount including how to fix a puncture and made some amazing

friends. Since then its been a slippery slope of joining a cycling club, taking part in 3 duathlons and planning a cycling trip to the Himalayas in 2024!!!

So in the spirit of wanting to combine my passions, I have decided to explore the city of London by telling the diverse story of London’s cyclists through portraiture. Below are a few examples of my adventures so far!

The project is about celebrating the everyday cyclist, uncovering the hidden stories amongst the cycle lanes and further understanding the diverse role that bikes can play in people’s lives.

I am looking for 100 different cyclists to take part, so if you’d like to get involved or know someone who should, I would love to hear from you! Absolutely no need to own a single item of lycra and please just drop me a message.
